I’ve been thinking a lot about how I interact with social media. What am I giving and what am I taking? How, and what, am I sharing? How am I supporting the efforts of others? To that end, I started doing something on Twitter earlier this month called Smart People / Smart Ideas. Every day on Twitter I saw links from people that I thought were great and found helpful. So, instead of a non-stop stream of me plugging my own stuff, I decided to really focus on highlighting good information from other people.
Turns out I did 65 of them in December. Here they are:

Found this thanks to @Twitter_Tips. Sorry the first comment on this may feel like criticism.
I appreciate the sharing mentality–it’s one of the things I look for in the tweets of people I consider following. Personally, I would be a lot more likely to click on links if I had some clue as to what topic each link addressed, rather than following 65 mystery links. I follow quite a few of these same folks & would rather click on new resources than on things I’ve already seen.
Some may really like the teaser element, and you know what works for you. Just a thought, FWIW. Keep sharing!
@BarbChamberlain
That kind of sums up my feelings as well. Neat idea, though.
Thanks very much for the feedback. I had originally thought of adding more info, but was somewhat restricted by the Twitter 140 character limitations. I did a cut and paste from my Twitter feed straight to this post. I’ll look to incorporate your suggestions moving forward.
