Topps, one of the most famous names in trading cards is making some bold moves and taking the company in a new direction to reach a new audience. Joe Pulizzi over at Junta42 recounts the details here.
In a million years I wouldn’t have expected this from a company like Topps. I watched episode 6, which was edgy, funny and bordering on inappropriate. Stuff I would expect from Dave Chappelle, but not from Topps. Will this get new consumers excited about buying Topps cards? I’m not sure, but it goes a long way to re-positioning the brand. I think it’s a worthy effort and worth keeping an eye on.
