What should brands on Twitter focus on?

There are many things brands can do on Twitter to engage consumers. In a perfect world a brand would have plenty of bandwidth and do it all: Engage consumers, distribute information/news and use Twitter for a variety of market research purposes. But if you have limited resources, which of the following would you focus on:

  1. How about spending your time finding staff that can do both? I think that would be a better use of your limited resources.

    You’ll need both angles.

  2. Existing fans will continue to be so. Working to neutralize and/or convert the disgruntled can work toward creating new fans and change the word of mouth they spread.

    Sometimes acknowledging a customer’s displeasure with a product or service can go very far to changing their mind about the company. Best/Geri R
