The Watchmen hits theatres today. I’m assuming that by this point most of you know the deal. Incredibly influential graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential books of the 20th century.
The story is not of people with super powers a la Superman or Spiderman, but rather of everyday people more like vigilantes. So, if you don’t have superpowers, where do you go for your cool gear and gadgets? The Superhero Supply Co. Located at 372 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn, the store is currently offering a certificate Superheroism which looks like it’s lovingly crafted and is high quality.
While I’ve yet to visit, my colleague Rich Gallagher, whom I trust regarding such matters, says it’s very cool and a great place for kids.
What an awesome example of the Deeply Immersive Narrative Universe. These guys are creating, rich, deep experiences for customers who can tell a story about the store.
But waits, it gets better. Much better. Like all good superheros, the Superhero Supply Co. has a secret identity! I’m not going to reveal it today, but in a much bigger post I’m going to blow the lid off this story in a sensational expose ripped from today’s headlines! Or something like that. Regardless, if you live in the NYC area, go check out the Superhero Supply Co.
